16/07/1984 - Born and raised in Ra’anana, Israel

Independent choreographer, professional dancer and teacher.

Based in Gent-Belgium since 2016. 

 

Between 2002-2018, Ido danced and performed for several companies, including: les ballets C de la B - (in C(H)OEURS & nicht schlafen by Alain Platel), Inbal Pinto & Avshalom Pollak dance Company (IL), NDD-Galili Dance (Groningen NL), Kibbutz Contemporary Dance Company (IL) and he participated in projects of the choreographers Idan Cohen, Talia Beck, Roy Assaf and Meytal Blanaru. 

 

Since 2011, Ido started to create his own choreographies, which toured and performed in festivals around the world. In 2012, Ido was invited to take a position of a resident choreographer at Random Collision in Groningen, The Netherlands. In 2014, the work Ego Trip, a collaboration with the choreographer Anna Reti, was nominated for the best work of the year by the Rudolf Laban Institute in Hungary. In the same year, Ido received a 2nd prize award for the choreography of BodyMagic at the International Choreography Competition of Machol Shalem in Jerusalem.

 

In 2018, Ido was invited by Gent Bougement Festival to create ‘Emotional Landscape’ - a large group piece that was created especially for local and non-professional dancers in Flanders. The work premiered at CAMPO Gent. 

 

Same year, Ido started to collaborate artistically with the choreographer Lisi Estaras under the umbrella of MonkeyMind vzw which is based in Gent, Belgium. Their first creation ‘The Jewish Connection Project’ was developed in Co-laBo/les ballets C de la B and premiered at CAMPO Gent. The work received financial aid of the Flemish Government and the City of Ghent.

In 2020, Ido and Lisi premiered at De Grote Post in Oostende their 2nd work: SONICO - The Heart is the Muscle We Like To Work Out - SONICO is A production by MonkeyMind Company in cooperation with Sonico Ensemble. Support by les ballets C de la B (BE); Tanzhaus Zürich (CH); KC Vooruit Gent (BE), Bamp Bruxelles (BE), MA Scène Nationale – Pays de Montbéliard (FR), Le Manège Maubeuge (FR) and De Grote Post Oostende (BE). 

 

Along with Ido’s personal artistic activities, he initiates independent projects in collaboration with other choreographers, artists and scientists from different disciplines. Experiment A/B/B+ & Noths on Synicorhony where the first art-science pioneers created in Random Collision to make dance performances as a platform to experiment audience's behavior. Furthermore, Ido teaches contemporary dance classes and workshops based on his working method in various dance platforms such as: festivals, academies and universities around the world. 

He supports young dancers and artists through coaching and mentoring and looks consestly to open artistic and actual dialogs between and among artists and colleagues.
